Maryland's year in search: pilates, pornhub, & mosques

More flexible and more muslim, is how Google might describe the people of Baltimore in 2022 as compared to years prior, as data from the search giant’s annual Year In Search report shows that “pilates near me” and “mosque near me” were two of the trendiest “near me” searches in Charm City this year.
Baltimore was the only place in America where “mosque near me” trended, while “pilates near me”, which was Baltimore’s trendiest search overall, was trendy across many nearby urban locations, including Washington DC, Richmond, and Philadelphia, the last of which saw “recreational dispensary near me” trend as well.
Reflecting concern over suring gas prices, “gas prices near me” and “cheapest gas near me” trended in Baltimore, as did “social services near me”, making for an unfortunate reminder that the autonomous nuclear family has all but dissolved in the city that has been run by Democrats for generations.
Expressing a more affluent and leisurely lifestyle were native and tourist searchers in DC, where “remote jobs near me” trended, as did “concerts near me”, “circus near me”, and even “planetarium near me”.
The trendiest recipe search in DC was for “eggplant lasagna”, often a low-carb and keto-friendly dish, while in Baltimore it was for “baby formula”.
Musically speaking, DC was one of only three places where “orchestra” was searched for more than “heavy metal”, while in Baltimore “rap” was the preferred genre.
In Salisbury, “public restroom near me” was the top trending search, perhaps showing that beach commuters and college visitors need better off the road bathroom accommodations than WaWa and Royal Farms.
Also trending on the Eastern Shore, where life is comparatively blue collar and agricultural, were “shoe repair near me”, “emergency vet near me”, and “electrical supply near me”.
Just north, in Lancaster Pennsylvania, “food banks near me” and “bingo near me” trended. And in Clarksburg West Virginia, “oral surgeon near me” was the top trending search.
Nationwide, according to AHREFs, the single most searched for term was “pornhub”, exceeding even “facebook” and “youtube”. Pornhub itself releases an annual user behavior report, and noted that Marylanders, along with Californians, saw the largest year-over-year increase in average session duration, up 43 seconds and 39 seconds respectively over the previous year, resulting in an average session that is between 9 and 10 minutes long.
